“Air Hostess” is a 1959 Hong Kong Movie. This is the story of 3 girls who wanna become air hostess. This was a glamorous job back in that time. In the movie you can take a peek of the interview process and training, also their work and life after they graduated.
I LOVE this movie! It’s like a fashion show of the 50s! Actresses change their dresses so often! Even the unnamed supporting roles dressed nicely! You can see the dressing style in 50s Hong Kong which was still a combination of Chinese and western. Those Cheongsam and “new look” dress (I think only rich and chic girl wore that…) looked so pretty! This movie is such an eye-candy ☺
Cheongsam (which totally disappear on HK’s street nowadays!!) can only be seen in formal occasions now. Sometimes I wonder why the Cheongsam tradition disappears in Hong Kong. Well I know the mobility of wearing Cheongsam must be one of the reasons. You have to walk much slower comparing to jeans and modern dresses. And there’re so many attractive and convenient casual fashion out there…
I’ve never worn a Cheongsam in my life. (and I believe most HK girls haven’t worn that ever) But I’d love to get a tailored made one. There’re still a few Cheongsam tailors in Hong Kong as I know, who mainly work for old ladies, brides or visitors. This is a sunset industry. I must visit them before they’re gone…
Here’s some screen caps of the movie ❤❤
