Fan Ho and 50s Hong Kong

Fan Ho  – A photographer and film director, born in Shanghai and immigrated to Hong Kong when he was little. He’s reputed in photography.  He was good at capturing the lights and moments and making the ordinary scenes on streets so poetic.  Some of the compositions of his works were so modern I think they’re like graphic design.  His photos are like movie captures.  I wonder how long he had waited for those perfect moments and then pressed the shutter… The compositions are just too stunning! Here are some of his works. Most were taken in the 50s.

I’m always interested to see more photos of the old Hong Kong. I wanna know what it looked like before rapid development and modernization. The streets, buildings, people and lives were so much different from nowadays! It won’t take too long to see the old things disappear in this city. I should go out and discover more and take some photos before they’re all gone…! The streets and buildings of old Hong Kong were beautiful and distinctive. I will talk more about it …! Oh I love the old streets of GuangZhou too…
